- Upon returning to Medusa, she receives exactly the amount of mana all targets lost to Mystic Snake.

- The slow debuff lasts either 6 seconds, or until the gaze ends. The stone debuff always lasts the full 3 seconds.
- A unit can only receive the slowing debuff once per cast. If a unit with the debuff faces Medusa for 2 seconds, it gets petrified.
- The 2 second facing counter does not reset when looking away once.
- Facing Medusa while invulnerable or hidden still counts towards the 2 second counter.
- This means a unit can only be petrified once per cast and can freely face Medusa afterwards without getting petrified again.
- Therefore it can be avoided by being invulnerable as the spell attempts to petrify.
- The petrification is a simple stun and as such it cannot be purged, but can be dispelled by strong dispels.
- Illusions are destroyed instead of petrified.
- Only increases physical damage dealt by attacks. Physical damage from spells is not increased.
- Stone Gaze ends when Medusa dies.

- 天鹰之戒 is the upgraded version of 王者之戒 which gives stats and further damage boost.
- 林肯法球 provides spell block, decent attributes for the cost. An extension from an early perseverance, it increases Medusa's durability as well as giving some right-click power.
Situational Items:
- 雷神之锤 offers further boost to Medusa's damage due to the attack speed bonus and the Chain Lightning which can help to whittle down group of enemies. The Static Charge is also a great combination to her increasing durability as another source of AoE damage.
- 幻影斧's bonus directly increases Medusa's movement speed, and the illusions hit for a total of 56% of your base damage. In addition, the illusions can be used to farm multiple places at once, and benefit from Split Shot.
- 蝴蝶 offers bonus damage, attack speed and armor, and its evasion gives you even more survivability.
- 斯嘉蒂之眼 gives both survivability and killing power. The added stats grant Medusa health, mana for Mana Shield, armor, DPS and a good slowing attack.
- 血精石 can also be purchased on medusa if you are in need of an easier to build tank item than Linken's.
- 邪恶镰刀 for an extra disable, stats and mana regeneration which may help Mana Shield.
- 代达罗斯之殇 gives a good damage boost to work with Split Shot and chance of Critical Strike on the primary target.
- 圣剑 is good due to Medusa's Split Shot skill and her increasing durability which reduces the chance of dropping it.

Tips
- Mystic Snake can be maxed first as it is Medusa's only nuke and can be used to push your lane.
- The damage increases per jump, so it is best cast so that it would hit enemy heroes at last, to make them take the most damage. If used for farming, casting it so that it hits the creeps with more health can prevent overkill damage on lower health creeps, making it more effective and faster to farm.
- Since Medusa does not have much mana and the ability has a high mana cost, it is important to make sure that it hits at least 2 enemies which have mana (e.g. ranged lane creeps), to get some mana restored back. It does not matter if targets with mana are hit as first or at last, since the mana drain is static and does not increase per jump like the damage.
- The lane creeps have a mana pool of 300, so Mystic Snake can drain 33/42/51/60 mana from them. So in order to get its full mana cost basically refunded, it has to hit at least 5/4/4/3 ranged lane creeps. This means it is also important to hit enemies with the spell in order to not run out of mana during the laning phase.
- Split Shot is a highly item-dependent ability. Consider spending pre-level 6 points in Attribute Bonus for a small but more tangible boost in power.
- By activating Split Shot before you use 幻影斧 or Illusion rune, the illusions gain the Split Shot ability, which is a very good boost in terms of increasing their DPS.
- Be wary about leaving Mana Shield active in the early game without a high mana pool or some mana regen items. Heavy damage may leave you unable to cast Stone Gaze, which can turn the tides of a gank or teamfight when used correctly.
- Mana Shield does however provide an immense amount of damage reduction at all levels. An alternative build is to max this by 7 and take a lot of points in stats.
- The ideal ratio of mana to health is 0.94/0.79/0.68/0.6 mana per health, meaning every consecutive skill point in Mana Shield becomes less cost efficient, consider grabbing a point in your other skill points over another point in mana shield if you already have the ideal mana/health ratio (any more points basically mean wasted mana; do not forget about Stone Gaze and Mystic Snake costs)
- When pushing, activate Split Shot when attacking towers to whittle down an incoming creep wave.
- Items built from 极限法球 and 坚韧球 are good for Medusa, such as 林肯法球 and 幻影斧. The bonus stats and regen make Medusa very tanky with Mana Shield active.
- Medusa's mana pool needs to equal at least 93.75%/78.95%/68.18%/60% of her current health to maximize the damage reduction of Mana Shield, assuming she does not lose mana in any differnet way than by the absobtion of Mana Shield.
- You should always have a 回城卷轴 in order to escape incoming ganks and as well as for defending your base. It is especially useful for countering engagements and tower dives, as Stone Gaze severely punishes teams who commit to a fight.
- It is possible to farm ancients with Medusa at level 1 by putting a point into Split Shot. However, it requires juking into the jungle, and may need more skill to perform in on the Dire ancients.
- Remember that Petrified heroes take no damage from magical attacks. This is especially important if you have a nuke heavy team as activating Stone Gaze at the wrong time can cost your team a battle that could have been won otherwise.
- Proper use of Stone Gaze together with Split Shot makes Medusa a great counter to heroes that either summon illusions, purchase Manta style in their item build or rely heavily on their auto-attacks to do damage. Examples of these heroes would be 幻影长矛手, 混沌骑士 and 虚空假面. Remember that a successful Stone Gaze clears all illusions from Medusa's vicinity.
- However, be very wary with its activation - smart users may attempt to use illusions to bait you either by taking you to poor spots or by forcing your ultimate out, which can leave you very vulnerable, especially to heroes like Phantom Lancer as they almost always build 净魂之刃 (making your mana shield much less effective) and he can easily overwhelm you beyond your capacities even with Split Shot active.
- 动力鞋 are a valid option for Medusa as she greatly benefits from the stat toggle and increase of attack speed. 相位鞋 are great for more active play, but once you can sit in place and auto-attack, Power Treads are better.
- 魔杖 gives Medusa cheap restoration and stats that she needs early game.
- 幻影斧 is an excellent item to build on Medusa to greatly increase her Area of Effect Damage per Second through a team fight. You can dodge projectiles or dispel certain debuffs on yourself and unleash a barrage of auto attacks on the enemy team.
- 斯嘉蒂之眼 provides much needed stats to boost Medusa, while Strength and Agility naturally makes her much harder to bring down, Intelligence increases the amount of damage she can absorb with Mana Shield (Up to 60% of each hit) which makes Skadi the ultimate item to tank Medusa and give her the survivability to stand tall and mow down the enemy team.
- 雷神之锤 and Maelstrom can be picked up to increase your farming speed while also boosting your damage passively. Mjollnir's Static Charge buff can be applied to yourself when you get focused to provide even more AoE damage to the enemy team, overall Static Charge is fantastic to pick up on any tank.

- While the lore of Medusa is heavily inspired by its ancient Greek counterpart it should be noted that in the early versions of the myth, Medusa was born hideous to primordial sea deities Phorcys and Ceto who are described as cthonic monsters from an archaic world.
- The mythology that describes Medusa as having incomprehensible beauty was introduced later by the Roman poet Ovid and in that version Medusa did not exchange her beauty for power. Rather after being attacked by Poseidon in the temple of Athena the enraged goddess twisted Medusa's beautiful visage to the point that merely looking at her would turn the onlookers to stone.

- Gaze:
- Medusa focuses her most ancient power on an enemy unit. It slowly turns the unit into stone, slowing its movement speed. Medusa must channel all of her energy into this Gaze. Taking damage breaks the channeling. The slowing effect of the stone slows the unit's speed for up to 5 seconds.

- Movement speed slow per second: 9%/18%/27%
- Attack speed slow per second: 9/18/27
- Slow duration: 5
- Mana cost: 150/200/250

- Notes: Is a channeling ability. The slow gets stronger by the mentioned values for each channeled second. When the channeling ends or gets canceled, the slow lingers for 5 more seconds. Recasting this on the same unit resets the slow.
Replaced abilities

in the 6.78 gameplay patch.
- Every enemy unit that faces Medusa within 85° in front of them within 800 radius around Medusa gets purged, having most buffs removed and their speeds slowed.
- The slow always lasts 5 seconds, regardless of the remaining duration of Stone Gaze.
- The slow deceases in 1.66 second intervals, so it slows for 100%/66%/33%, going one step down every 1.66 seconds.
- Can only affect units once per cast.
- Stone Gaze ends when Medusa dies.
- This ability got replaced by Lua错误 在Module:Ability_ID的第61行:无法找到"Mystic Snake"的Cargo数据
in the 6.60 gameplay patch.
- The lightning bounces in 0.25 second intervals. So hitting all target takes 0.5/1/1.5/2 seconds.
- Does not bounce on invisible units or units in the Fog of War.
- Can never hit the same unit twice per cast.
- This is how much damage each bounce deals:
- Level 1: 75/63.75/54.19 damage
- Level 2: 150/127.5/108.38/92.12/78.3 damage
- Level 3: 225/191.25/162.56/138.18/117.45/99.83/84.86 damage
- Level 4: 300/255/216.75/184.24/156.6/133.11/113.14/96.17/81.75 damage
- All bounces together can deal up to 193/556/1019/1507 damage (before reductions).
- Cannot be cast when a chain lightning from a previous cast is still bouncing.
- This ability got replaced by the following Stone Gaze in the 6.60 gameplay patch.
- Applies a basic dispel on the target upon cast.
- Can be cast on allies and enemies. Can be cast on invulnerable units.
- Does not slow or damage allied targets.
- The slow deceases in 2.5/1.66/1 second intervals, resulting in 2/3/5 intervals. This is how much it slows on each interval and level:
- Level 1: 100%/50%
- Level 2: 100%/66.66%/33.33%
- Level 3: 100%/80%/60%/40%/20%
- This means, leveling the ability downgraded the slow, as it got weaker faster.
- This ability got replaced by the following Purge in the 6.04 gameplay patch.
- The slow increases by 9%/18%/27% by each channeled second.
- Only player-based damage cancels the channeling.
- When the channeling ends or is canceled, the slow lingers on the target for 5 seconds.
- Cannot be cast on ancient creeps and Roshan.

in the 6.00 gameplay patch.
- Pre 6.00, Medusa had 2 ultimates, one being this, the other being Mana Shield, both got reworked into regular abilities in the 6.00 patch.
- Unlike regular ultimates, Split Shot required level 5/9/13 to be leveled.
- The secondary arrows travel at same speed as the original attack (1200) and can be disjointed. However, they cannot miss.
- Secondary arrows are launched at the 4/5/6 closest visible targets to Medusa. Invisible or fogged units are unaffected.
- The extra arrows are released at the same time as her primary is released. This means that when an attack misses, the arrows are still released.
- Other effects of attack modifiers like bash or lifesteal is only applied to the primary attack target.
- This ability got removed in the 6.00 gameplay patch.
- Applies a basic dispel on the target upon cast.
- Can be cast on allies and enemies. Can be cast on invulnerable units.
- Does not slow or damage allied targets.
- The slow deceases in 3/2/1.5/0.857 second intervals, resulting in 2/3/4/7 intervals. This is how much it slows on each interval and level:

- Level 4: 100%/85.71%/71.42%/57.14%/42.86%/28.57%/14.28%
- This means, leveling the ability downgraded it, as the slow got weaker faster.
